The following pub news was reported at the branch social meeting held on Wednesday 6 January 2016.

The following pub discount information has been received by Plymouth CAMRA and is given in good faith, but is liable to change at short notice. Some discounts may be modified or restricted when special promotions are on offer.

Brass Monkey, City Centre; Dolphin Hotel, Barbican; Fishermans Arms, Barbican; Fortescue Hotel, Mutley Plain; Golden Hind, Mannamead; Horse & Groom, Bittaford; Nowhere Inn, City Centre; Olde Plough Inn, Beer Ferrers; Fler, Barbican; Stoke Inn, Stoke; Tamar, Crownhill; Union Inn, Plympton; Whod Have Thought It Inn, Milton Combe; and all JDW pubs accept CAMRA members vouchers: Britannia Inn, Milehouse; Gog & Magog, Barbican; Mannamead, Mutley Plain; Queens Head Hotel, Tavistock; Stannary Court, Plympton; & Union Rooms, Union Street. Details of the discounts vary from pub to pub and are at the discretion of the individual pub or may be withdrawn at any time without notice.

PUB NEWS

The Royal Oak, Hooe, reopened, after a short period of closure, in time for Christmas. Drake’s Drum, Plymstock, has unfortunately closed. Dartmoor Inn, Merrivale, now sells Sam’s Autumn Scrumpy. The Royal Naval Arms, Keyham, reopened with a new manager, but no longer serves real ale. Fareham Inn, Coxside, sells one ale from the St. Austell range. The Butcher’s Arms, Stonehouse, is reportedly “opening soon” after several years laying dormant. The East Dart Hotel, Postbridge, is closed until 15 January due to holidays, as is the Journey’s End, Ringmore, which will reopen on 20 January. The London Inn, Plympton, now opens on Monday – Friday at 1700.

BREWERY NEWS

Tavy Ales has been sold by Mark to new proprietor Jon Clargo – we wish him all the very best for the future. Summerskills continues to see brisk sales of their seasonal winter brews. Dartmoor and Noss Beer Works see steady sales throughout the winter period. New breweries reported in the South West include Brythonic, Gloucestershire; Emal, Exeter; Riviera, Torbay; Tanners, Somerset; & TAP, Gloucestershire. Powderkeg, Exeter, are reportedly now brewing cask ales. Good luck to all new publicans and brewers alike
