IAN STUART DICKINSON 28/11/1963-04/06/2024
Ian Dickinson, better known to most of us as “Dickie” a nickname he would have picked up from his time in the Royal Navy. Dickie also picked up his military humour during his 20+ years serving in the senior service, where he rose to the rank of Chief Petty Officer. He was in a position of authority in the Navy, which he carried on through into his time with the Plymouth Camra branch. He was a very passionate campaigner for Camra holding regional positions as well as doing work for National Camra. In his voluntary role with Campaign for Real Ale he thrived in getting involved, which included the great social side, meeting new members and members from other branches, which he carried out for over 30 years. Dickie also told me that during his younger years in the Navy, he played Rugby. He was a passionate sport lover and along with Rugby he followed and watched other sports. Coming from the Oakham area of England he was a follower of Leicester City football club. He was very proud and boastful when the “Foxes” won the Premier League title in 2015/16 season. He did so much voluntary work for the campaign, being described has a stalwart for Camra. He is missed and has left a big void with people from Plymouth and further afield. His mickey taking humour, his gentlemanly behaviour (especially in presence of ladies) will also be missed. Thank you Dickie for your help guidance and the occasional telling off when he alleged I had made a mistake. Bob Holmes Plymouth Camra Chairman.
