The following pub information has been reported at the Branch Social Meeting on Wednesday 2 September 2015.

The following pubs offer discounts to card-carrying CAMRA members: Brass Monkey, Royal Parade; Dolphin Hotel, Barbican; Fisherman's Arms, Barbican; Fortescue, Mutley Plain; Golden Hind, Mannamead; Horse and Groom, Bittaford; Nowhere Inn, City Centre; Porters, Barbican; Stoke Inn, Stoke; Tamar, Crownhill; Union Inn, Plympton; Who'd Have Thought It, Milton Coombe; and all six JDW pubs accept members' vouchers: Britannia Inn, Milehouse; Gog and Magog, Barbican; Mannamead, Mutley; Stannary Court, Plympton; Union Rooms, City Centre; & Queen's Head Hotel, Tavistock. Details of the discounts vary from pub to pub and are at the discretion of the individual pub, or may be withdrawn at any time without notice.

PUB NEWS

Brown's Hotel, Tavistock, reopened on Tuesday 21 July as the Queen's Head Hotel, part of JD Wethersoon hotel group; Eddystone Inn, Heybrook Bay, reopened in early July; Sippers, Millbay Road, has reopened after a couple of years in limbo. After extensive refurbishment, it is now trading as the Salumi Bar & Eatery, and is owned by the same people as Rock Salt Cafe, Steve and Dave Jenkins. Noah’s Ark, City Centre, joined the LocAle Scheme, as did the Masonic Inn, Stoke and Crooked Spire, Ermington, during the summer. The branch was notified of beer festivals taking place at the Foxhound Inn, Brixton; Royal Oak, Meavy (and their Wild Food BBQ and cider festival!); Stoke Inn, Stoke village; and a cider festival at the King’s Head Tavern, Bretonside, over the August Bank Holiday weekend.

New South West Breweries.

The following breweries have commenced brewing commercially since June: Black Bear (brew pub relocated from Hampshire to Wiveliscombe, Somerset); Bolt Hole (Bristol); Brewhouse & Kitchen (Gloucester Quays); Crossed Anchors – test status (Exmouth); Dynamite Valley (Ponsanooth, Cornwall); Eastbury (Marlborough, Wiltshire); Electric Bear (Bath, Somerset); Powderkeg (Woodbury Salterton, Exeter); Tally Ho! (Hatherliegh) and Tremethick (Truro, Cornwall).
