This cosy and friendly pub, which dates from the 12th century, is located in a pleasant village on the edge of Dartmoor. Pub name derives from the fact that it was part of Buckland Abbey estate, formerly owned by Sir Francis Drake. 2 regular ales, with one local sourced guest ale, Cider offering is from Sandford Orchards. A public bar with a restuarant area to sample the good food. Licensee Mandy as been the custodian of this pub since 1989. Live music 1st Wednesday and 2nd Sunday of every month, occaisonal Morris Dancing. The garden with a steam is a nice sun trap in the warmer months.
