Mountain InnOld Chapel Road
A traditional two-roomed pub with simple cob walls and real fires. The local favourite, Dartmoor Jail Ale, is accompanied by three wide-ranging guest ales, occasional draught ciders, and up to 8 bottled ciders. Simple pub food is available daily except Tuesday. Although situated in the foothills of Dartmoor, the pub's name is actually a corruption of Montain, the name of an old local landowner. An annual beer festival is held. Bus service is daytime only, not Sun. The pub was listed as an Asset of Community Value (ACV) on 1/8/13 by South Hams District Council. Sadly, the pub closed on 26/8/14 on the retirement of the landlady. It appears that the new owners have no intention of re-opening this pub.
