See more about this pub on WhatPub, CAMRA's national pub guide.
Situated to the north of the city centre, this two-bar pub has a quirky olde-worlde charm and can quite rightly be called a country pub within the city. Originally three eighteenth century cottages, it became Harper’s Ale House in 1814. Interestingly, part of it was used as a chapel of rest for the adjacent church during the Great War. It is popular for its' home-made pub grub with Thursday night being curry night. However, food is not served on Mondays and Tuesdays. It has a covered and heated area for smokers. The third pump is always a changing guest ale.
