The pub was privately-run by the same family for over 50 years before being sold to a pub co who promptly closed the pub in late 2011. It was offered for sale for a period of time before several planning applications were submitted.

Finally, planning application ref no 13/00676/FUL, dated 15/04/2013, proposed Change of use from public house (Use Class A4) to single dwelling house (Use Class C3), was granted conditionally 12/07/2013.
