Pub and Brewery News - September 2019
The following pub and brewery news was reported at the September Branch Social Meeting on Wednesday 4th September 2019
Pub News
The Unicorn, Plympton, no longer serves real ale; the Mount Pleasant, Millbay, has been refurbished; the Cornwood Inn, Cornwood, is closed, no further details known; Ker Street Social Club, Devonport, only serves bottled Doom Bar; the Green Taverners Suite, Plymouth Argyle FC, Home Park, serves Dartmoor Jail Ale and St Austell Tribute. Also available is bottled Jail Ale (not bottle conditioned) and Proper Job (bottle conditioned). WHAT PUB will soon be able to indicate both pubs offering a discount and pubs which are part of the Members Vouchers Scheme; a new pub survey form has been produced which will eventually be for each pub in the branch area. Members are asked to sign in to the branch website, and scroll down to item 5 of the left hand side menu, Plymouth CAMRA Pub Survey Forms. If the pub you wish to survey is not listed yet, please download the Blank Survey Form. 195 branch pubs and clubs have not been surveyed since 2013, or earlier.
Cask Marque Accreditation
No pubs in our branch area gained or lost accreditation recently.
Brewery News
There are a few “new breweries” in our branch area: Anchor House, with an office in Plympton; Billy Ruffian’s, at City College Plymouth, of Devonport; and Steel Brew Co, with an office address given as Sherford – all three require a Brewery Liaison Officer (BLO) and volunteers should contact the South West Brewery Liaison Coordinator, Ian (Dickie) Dickinson, on ku.gro.armac.nosiailyrewerb@rotanidrooc.tsewhtuos
Plymouth CAMRA would like to wish all new publicans, and brewers, all the very best in their new ventures!
